Today is the day when the unrealistic becomes real…

Would you ever do something crazy to raise money for charity? Like run a marathon? How about running two marathons straight? That’s what Marlins President David Samson is doing next Friday to raise money for 10 featured charities and to honor the workers who helped build Marlins Park.

Day 10 of the countdown, and TODAY IS THE DAY! Today’s featured cause is la Liga Contra el Cancer. La Liga Contra el Cancer was founded as a community based, not for profit organization providing free medical care to needy cancer patients.

David will run the final five miles of the 52.5 mile run in honor of this charity and will be joined for this stretch by Jeff Conine & Hannah Samson. Conine is a former MLB great and is known around South Florida as ‘Mr. Marlin’ for winning the 1997 & 2003 World Series with the Marlins. He has raised millions of dollars for the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and completed the Ironman Triathlon in Kona, HI in 2008. Hannah will proudly run by her father’s side for the toughest five miles of the day.

It is in the very same spirit of proving the unlikely can be done, that David running a double marathon. Show your support for those who believe obstacles can be overcome given commitment!
