See David Run

In the month of April, The Miami Marlins and Marlins Foundation donated over $850,000 back to our community!

This past Friday, April 27th, 2012, our President David Samson completed a double marathon, a 52.4 mile run to raise funds in honor of the 5000 workers that made Marlins Park a reality. The ultra-marathon started at 7am in Pompano Beach and concluded as David ran into Marlins Park, greeted by over 500 workers!

One hundred percent of the proceeds raised were donated to ten special charities in honor of the Marlins Park workers. To date, the run has raised over $550,000.

The checks above were donated to the following charities:

The Jewish Federation of Broward County

Stand Up to Cancer

The Challenged Athletes Foundation

The ALS Recovery Fund

The Boys and Girls Club of Miami Dade County

The Miami Foundation

Miami Children’s Hospital

The University of Miami’s Multiple Sclerosis Center

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research

The Liga Contra el Cancer

As a recent graduate, I feel incredibly blessed to work for a company that routinely gives back. It’s reassuring to know that companies have a hand in the community and strive for increased involvement. With as hectic as life can be, it’s not always easy for the individual to make a commitment to their community. Through organizations that promote awareness, they now have an avenue to participate. Every single day, I am not only impressed by the outstanding charity work the Marlins Foundation does in our south Florida home but by the overall impact the MLB community programs have on our nation.

Let’s take time to congratulate our President David Samson, these ten charities of choice and the 5000 workers who made this ballpark a dream come true.

Please continue to support David Samson’s run and these worthy charities @

Thank you!
