Good Morning Miami Marlins Fans!
This is Selena Fogel, Foundation Intern blogging on Beyond the Ballpark. In today’s blog news’ coverage, Joanne Messing, Director of Foundation Partnerships at the Miami Marlins and Karl Sturge from the Miracle League of Miami Dade County, hosted a segment on CBS Channel 4 called Focus on South Florida.
The interview highlighted the Miami Marlins’ partnership with their charity of choice, the Miracle League of Miami Dade County. The Miracle League Program provides an opportunity for children with mental and/or physical challenges to play baseball. With a specially designed rubber turf fields for their protection and accommodations, the Miracle League makes dreams come true for children with special needs.
Since its creation 10 years ago, the Miracle League has formed over 250 Miracle League organizations, not only across our nation but around the world. The dreams of over 250,000 children have been fulfilled.
The children in our community deserve a chance too! With the inaugural year of Marlins Park, it is the Miami Marlin’s goal to build the 251st field in Miami Dade County!
Get involved today! Organize a league, volunteer to be a “buddy”, become a sponsor, make a miracle and change lives. Every child deserves to experience joy and community through baseball.
