Finding my Voice – What Marlins Ayudan Means to Me…

One of my many responsibilities in running the Marlins Ayudan program is to document our staff at all our Ayudan events. I try to capture the essence of the Ayudan program through photos and video so I can then share that with our fans. As a part of the documentation, I’ve begun asking our staff to tell me what Marlins Ayudan means to them. I’ve gotten some pretty terrific answers…

“Raising hope within the Community.”

“Giving back to the less fortunate.”  

 ”Agape – All encompassing love.”

“Helping others make their dream’s come true.”

I ask our staff to express what this program means to them so I can try to capture each individual’s “Voice.” Hopefully, when the end of the year comes around, I will have captured the “Voice” of our organization through Marlins Ayudan.

I thought this would be an appropriate time for me to find my “Voice.” So, here it is… This is what Marlins Ayudan means to me.

Marlins Ayudan is an inspiration. It provides a resource for a regular citizen, like myself, to be able to make a change and a difference in our community that an everyday job wouldn’t allow me to do.

It allows me the ability to bring a smile to a face of a young child faced with a battle against cancer.

It allows me the ability to brighten the day of a veteran seeking medical care upon returning home from his or her service time defending our country.

It allows me the ability to hear the joyous laugh of  an elderly woman by simply taking a couple of minutes to dance with her.

It allows me the ability to touch the life of a hungry man by taking the time to serve him a hot meal.

It allows me the ability to change the lives of 61 families in a country devastated by a catastrophic earthquake by building them homes they may have never dreamed of having again.

So I go back to how Marlins Ayudan is an inspiration. It has inspired me to be a better person. It has given me the opportunity to take something from each individual I’ve met during my time doing this service. That something is a memory, one that cannot be forgotten and will forever leave its imprint on my heart and my soul. Through this imprint left on me, I hope to continue the chain of inspiration, an inspiration to make a difference. I hope to take all the powerful moments and memories that have inspired me and share these experiences with others so they, too, can become inspired and carry on so they may inspire others to make a difference.
