Marlins General Manager and General Council Inducted Into 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project
Last Friday, Marlins Vice President and General Manager, Michael Hill, and Vice President and General Counsel, Derek Jackson, were inducted as mentors into the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project at their 20th Annual MLK Scholarship Unity Breakfast. 5000 Role Models of Excellence Project is a nationally recognized Miami-based program that provides mentorship to young men in Miami Dade Public Schools. Founded in 1993 by Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson, 5000 Role Models was designed to be a dropout prevention intervention program for minority young boys “at-risk” of dropping out of school. The program serves 6,792 students in 89 schools. Many of the mentees are in the Marlins Ayudan partner schools. This is a tremendous honor that was bestowed upon Michael and Derek. The Marlins and the Marlins Foundation would like to congratulate Derek and Mike on their accomplishments.
