Would you ever do something crazy to raise money for charity? Like run a marathon? How about running two marathons straight? That’s what Marlins President David Samson is doing next Friday to raise money for 10 featured charities and to honor the workers who helped build Marlins Park.

Day 6 of the countdown, with just four days until Friday’s run, today’s featured cause is the University of Miami Multiple Sclerosis Center of Excellence. As an organization whose vision is to create a world free of multiple sclerosis, the Center of Excellence strives to live by a set of core values which guide our work and our actions on a daily basis.
David will run miles 35-40 of the 52.5 mile run in honor of this charity and will be joined for this stretch by Daryl Eisenberg, Tracy Nathanson & Allison Wallach. Eisenberg was diagnosed with MS 16 years ago and will run with her sisters Tracy, a veteran of 10 marathons, and Allison who has completed three marathons including the 2010 NYC Marathon with David.
It is in the very same spirit of proving the unlikely can be done, that David running a double marathon. Show your support for those who believe obstacles can be overcome given commitment!

Running an Ironman with One Leg?

Day 5 of the countdown, with just five days until Friday’s run, today’s featured cause is the Challenged Athletes Foundation. The Challenged Athletes Foundation works to provide opportunities and support to people with physical disabilities so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics.
David will run miles 10-15 of the 52.5 mile run in honor of this charity and will be joined for this stretch by Sarah Reinertsen, the first female leg amputee to complete the Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Kona, Hawaii in 2005.

Day 4 of the countdown, with less than a week until next Friday’s run, today’s featured cause isthe Boys and Girls Club . The Boys and Girls Club strives to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
David will run miles 20-25 of the 52.5 mile run in honor of this charity and will be joined for this stretch by Michael Hill, Vice President, General Manager of the Miami Marlins, and John Silverman, the Marlins equipment manager. Both Hill and Silverman are veteran marathoners having completed several with Samson including the 2009 Boston Marathon and 2010 New York City Marathon.

8 Days Until a 52.5 Mile Run Shows Overcoming Obstacles is Possible

With eight days remaining, today’s featured cause is Miami Children’s Hospital. MCH is a network of comprehensive care centers with talented people dedicated to exceeding the expectations of our children and families by giving them control and providing world-class service in a highly automated environment.
David will run miles 30-35 of the 52.5 mile run in honor of this charity and will be joined for this stretch by M. Narendra Kini, MD, President and CEO of Miami Children’s Hospital.

9 Days Until The Big 52.5 mile Run; Today’s Featured Charity…
Would you ever do something crazy to raise money for charity? Like run a marathon? How about running two marathons straight? That’s what Marlins President David Samson is doing next Friday to raise money for 10 featured charities and to honor the workers who helped build Marlins Park.
With nine days remaining, today’s featured cause is “Run to Honor the Workers” charity of choice is The Jewish Federation of Broward County. The Jewish Federation of Broward County is committed to a vision in which agencies, synagogues, and organizations work in partnership.
David will run the first five miles of his run in honor of this carity and will be joined by Marlins President of Baseball Operations, Larry Beinfest, who has in the past completed the 2010 New York City Marathon.
